Mary Ruth Smith-Shipp, daughter of the late George Edgar and Avis Geneva (Townsend) Parmer, was born on July 16, 1941 in Van Buren, Missouri and departed this life July 11, 2013 in Poplar Bluff, Missouri. She had attained the age of seventy-one years, eleven months and twenty-six days. Mary had resided in Van Buren, Missouri for most of her life and had briefly resided in Illinois. She was a CNA and formerly was employed with the South St. Louis Nursing Home. She enjoyed watching television, especially “The Young and The Restless”, and baking, but most of all she enjoyed her family. She was united in marriage to Robert Lee Smith. He preceded her in death. She was also preceded in death by one son, Terry Smith and one brother, Frankie Parmer. Survivors include six children, Val Dean Henson of Ellsinore, Verna Mae Belfield of Van Buren, Robert Wayne Smith of Festus, Jeffrey Edgar Smith of Ellsinore, Mark Wade Smith and Tiffany Dawn Smith both of Van Buren; one sister, Janice Routh and husband, Leroy of Van Buren; two brothers, Donald Parmer and David Parmer both of Van Buren; eleven grandchildren, Larry and Lisa Henson, Brandon Belfield, Robbie, David and Brandy Smith, Jessica, and Kali Smith, Trista and Tyler Smith and Connor Bellah; eleven great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews, Pam, Steve, Gary, Russell, Julie, Carla, Chris, Vanessa, Natalie,and David and many other relatives and friends who will mourn her passing.
